Clutch Burnout Causes

Vehicles traveling through hilly regions will burn through clutches much quicker than vehicles that drive on flat land. this is because holding the clutch and rolling backward on a hill will cause more friction and wear down the clutch plates faster.. > clutch failures and burnout eliminate clutch control and save your clutch after spending many hours in heavy traffic and at traffic lights, a lot of us can relate to having a stiff left thigh from prolonged periods of exercising clutch control.. Diagnosing a burnt clutch, without smelling it, can be difficult. oil leaking into the clutch casing will also cause clutch slippage, as will a bad flywheel, a misaligned clutch bearing, a blocked cylinder port, or problems with the cables and pistons connecting the pedal to the clutch..

The clutch is a wear item just like brakes. the material it is made from rubs on the flywheel to engage the engine to the transmission. everytime you push in and release the clutch pedal, a little of this material wears away.. The smell is overheated clutch friction material. if you are trying to pull away up a big hill with a heavy load, or having to creep up a hill in heavy traffic, the constant use of the clutch as you move away, creep a few metres then repeat, will overheat the friction plates and that smell is the result. similarly, if you are being a dick and.
